What I am trying to say is that, when mapping I want to be able to color/texture specific parts of the weapon. To do that I use the vfg file for the Night Owl MK II. I am using the p_minigun_groups02 vfg file to modify to my liking but the issue is that the 2 layers I use which is the main texture file and the completely red texture file have a preset color and I have no clue how to change the color myself. It's a bit messy the way I explained it but if you do not mind add me so I can show with pictures :)

Not sure what you mean by mapping on custom colors. Are you thinking of color gradients like maccaw masked?

the effect goes off the "effect area" way too much, reminds Bonzo the all gnawling issue with it spilling bones all over the player`s hitbox also main background effect too fast and projectiles as well. The Enhancing trio changing prticles too fast and theyre too small plus first purple lightning is too realistic and thin, could be enhanced in size and speed plus Kill-a-watt exist (i mean im saying on behalf of your logic, also burning flames exist, the roar too)

Brushes. If you haven't already, get a tf2 brushes pack. https://gamebanana.com/tools/5353 This here has a bunch that you could use. The best skins in the game are handmade, painted manually. You can rip some textures out of the files and use those as a base to paint upon.

I am currently putting genuine effort into a skin, been practicing tiling etc in photoshop. Do you recommend any tools for making patterns/textures? Thanks in advance

In whatever photo editing software you use, enable tiling so you can see how it lines up with itself and patch up the seams. This differs for whatever you use but look up "how to tile an image in _" and you should get an idea of how to do that.
