NA Newbie Mixes is now newbie.tf!

After a decade, we've outgrown this steam group and moved to discord. Check out https://discord.newbie.tf to stay up to date on our weekly mixes and seasonal team drives, or just to get your competitive TF2 questions answered!

We help new players learn how to play competitive 6v6 TF2. We organize PUGs with new and veteran players in order to help newer players understand how 6v6 TF2 is played. The newbie mix PUGs are every Friday night between 9 PM and midnight EST.

HOW TO PLAY

To play, join the Mumble server when mixes happen on Friday evenings. When enough players have joined, an admin will conduct a draft to form two teams. There are usually multiple mixes throughout the night. The link and info for the TF2 server you will be playing on is given out in Mumble when your newbie mix is about to start.

As evidenced from the lack of updates in this group for a long while, we've stopped using this steam group for managing things anymore. That doesn't mean Newbie Mixes is dead however, we just now do most of our community management out of discord! Check out our discord[discord.newbie.tf] to stay up to date on our team drives and weekly mixes! We've also expanded somewhat to the more general https://newbie.tf brand, as we have EU staff now and can also answer questions about other competitive TF2 modes like Highlander. We still focus on 6v6 for our events.

I was searching for the eu version of this group to get notified when there would be newbie mixes but could not find it. Dose this group post eu announcements too ?

Someone from this group contacted me about a TF2 tournament. Signing in to the "tournament" website they sent me using Steam gave them full API access to my account.

They changed my profile picture, bio, blocked friends, added a scammer to my friends list. The scammer contacted me posing as a Valve employee, etc.

I was dumb and should have reviewed the API permissions.

If this happens to anyone else, the two steps I took to remove their access
1. "Deauthorize all devices" to sign out of Steam everywhere -- https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
2. "Revoke My Steam Web API key" -- https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
