I did not quite understand yet in what way I am benefiting from conolizing the system where the academy is located. And another one: Generally the game throws heroes at you after some turns. (you can recruit them for free) ist there also a possibility to recruit some heroes additionally?

1. The academy allows you to see all stats of heroes in galaxy. It additionally adds the regular academy boni - you can regularly build one academy per empire (in case you have the tech) and conquer academies from other empires.

2. You can buy more heroes on marketplace - if you research the upgraded market place tech.

As Groo points out, the controlling Academy gives you access to information about all heroes in the galaxy. As far as I recall, it also counts as an Academy Embassy, which means that with an Embassy and the Academy itself you unlock heroes almost twice as fast as normal. Heroes governing the Academy system also receive additional experience per turn.

You can now, by the way, FIRE heroes when needed =). This becomes important in some games, where you can receive 1 hero/turn.
