Your response fails to undo the fact that overworld content exists.
They’re not actually useless for max levels and Stormblood added a few that render some pretty nice rewards.
What kind of content are you asking for that isn't really already there?
Right now the open world in this game is just barren and empty. This is the main reason why I unsubscribe from this game. There is nothing to do after you cap your tomes for the week.
These things also can lead to Endgame content progression, Hunts provide tokens that let you buy the relevant gear and FATEs provide a lot of the extra flavor material the world quests you're making a comparison of provide as well. (You're talking to someone who's a 948 Holy Priest and currently working on Heroic Antoras, I know what World Quests actually garner you with and the harsh reality is that they only get you started in endgame. WQ gear tends to cap around 930-935 and in no way substitutes progression from Mythic+ and advanced rating. Plus it's widely known the WoW community sees AP as nothing more than pointless busywork.)
If the base endgame progression is not enough for you, WoW in it's current state isn't either.
And next expansion AP is getting rid of in favour of Azerite. So the grind will be less whereas in FFXIV we just follow the same pattern since ARR.... capping tomestones.
My exact words were that FATEs accomplish the same flavor that World Quests do, which again, do not actually give Endgame Rewards, but rather help build you up and at times offer things like pets and shinies of that nature.
The fact that you think Azerite is any different than AP, and not the same thing but for 3 items instead of one item, is kind of hilarious. We're going to be doing the same thing we did in Legion, only even more of it.
Hunts offer tokens you can directly turn in for items that upgrade your existing Endgame Equipment / Better Weapons. There's FFXIV offering world content that does something WoW doesn't, actually give something relevant to Endgame.
