It's very annoying! I had a big discussion with people on this forum about it, a while ago!
Im surprised War Thunder has this many players despite the extremely annoying updating phase.
Agree...
other than that on some systems the launcher ALWAYS analyzes the game files whenever it is getting started (even if there is no game update to download) - when this happens usually there is a reason given in the launcher logs (located in the ..\War Thunder\.launcher_log\ folder) so it may be worth having a look into the latest logs.
however if you only start the client once a week it's pretty much normal that there is a (small) update since the game is getting updated / patched quite frequently.
