Do You Play Ultrawide And Aspect Ratio Is Trash?
For those who play in ultra-wide , some have issues with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game because after years BioWare hasn't bothered patching their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game to fix it so that SWTOR uses the resolution YOU set, instead it will scan your monitors EDID for the largest resolution possible.

Look, they weren't big on fixing their game alright?

So if your aspect ratio looks like absolute trash (squished/stretched) first step:

Go to your "C:\Users\Profilename\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings" folder and find the file named "client_settings.cfg"

Open this file and double check that the following lines match YOUR resolution:

NativeHeight = 1080
NativeWidth = 3840
Height = 1080
Width = 3840
WindowX = 3840
WindowY = 1080

If they do NOT (all three versions) match, delete what is there, input your correct desired resolution and then save and re-launch SWTOR to see if that resolves the issue.

If your client STILL looks like crap......bad news bears, you're going to have to edit your monitor's EDID (which is probably more advanced than some people are comfortable with, but it's not all that hard.)

The utility you want is called CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) , it can be found here:
https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU

After extracting the tool, open it and find your correct monitor in the list of active monitors (if you have more than one since most people do these days.)

In my experience the culprit is under the EXTENSION BLOCKS. So click that line and then the Edit button should be clickable. Select that and then look under "TV RESOLUTIONS" , it should then show all resolutions your monitor will display, if you find a resolution that is larger than your REAL native resolution, remove it.

Once done simply exit the utility, go back to the CRU extraction folder and run the Restart64.exe - Now relaunch SWTOR and you should be good.

Monitor is an LG Ultragear (model no. 34GN850-B) 34 Inch, 21: 9, 3440 x 1440
No issues at all.
I mean, wow, SWTOR actually looks great. This game has certainly held up throughout the years; better than I thought it would and probably(?) to the chagrin of many other studios' titles that were also released from then on. Color me impressed

Hi I play in 3440x1440 and this is one gem that does ultrawide right. No UI issues.

By default it might of reverted to low or that optimized settings sometimes turns it all to low. Make sure you check graphics

I'm glad lots of people are not having an issue, but 21:9 aspect ratio is a pretty common and normal resolution. Ultrawide 32:9 not so much, so if you have a monitor that runs in a higher ultrawide setting, you can have the problem described in the post. If you're running 21:9 , you're running a pretty normal monitor ratio that most games even as old as SWTOR have built in. If you have something that wasn't pretty standard back in the SWTOR days, you're probably going to have to tinker with it.

SWTOR be default pulls a higher native resolution than the one set by my desktop because it's a 21:9 resolution, my desktop is a 32:9 which leads to all the graphics being smashed. So if you have a 49" display, this is for you. If you don't, carry on.

You would be surprised how many games today still dont support 21:9. let alone 32:9. Most games that support 21:9 have 32:9 support as well. But alot of games that claim to support it, have horrible UI issues on 21:9, so it would be even worse on 32:9.

Less than 1% of all Steam users have a 3440x1440 resolution monitor, so a 32:9 would be even less.

Sadly its not as common as you make it sound. And. the bad part is, games 10 years ago offered more ultra wide support than the trash games coming out today.

10 to 15 years ago, Ultrawide was supported and devs paid you to test games.

10 to 15 years later, YOU pay to test unfinished games that may or may not ever get finished and they dont support 21:9 ratio. Progress? Maybe reverse progress.

Yeah I got a Acer Z35P and I agree, Ill never go back to 16:9, but I sadly did buy a 1920x1080 144hz for the games that are too stubbon to provide us support. Also works nice as a twitch chat monitor or a youtube guide watching as I game. But dude, Once you go Ultra wide, you enver go back lol

Sidebar monitor history lesson:
Through updates, UW native support may_have_been_added to games released around the time SWTOR was; October, 2008. As of several years ago, we're seeing/ have seen a lot of our nostalgic favorites return in the form of HD remasters, with added 16/21:9 support. Many developing studios prior to 2010 were not even coding 21:9 ultrawide monitor support. Why? It wasn't until two years later that LG would announce the "world's first UW monitors (November of 2012) with an aspect ratio of 21:9." That was just the announcement to market said monitors for sale.

Carry on
