Sebidee's Unit Creation Template
- Updated for latest patch



Hello everyone,

I am a big supporter of modding and want to see as many new modders as possible. I specialise in unit creation and have provided this template which contains most of the tables needed to make a basic roster expansion, Simply delete the entries in it and replace it with your own.

HOWEVER. You will not be able to create a roster expansion with this mod alone, you must also read this tutorial that I have written and follow it step by step:

here are the programs you will need:

Assembly Kit:
You can download it from the "Tools" section of Steam. Go to the "Library" section, then click "All Games" and choose "Tools" from the drop-down menu, then find "Total War: Rome 2 - Assembly kit"

What is harder and longer (nooo, no adult jokes). Reskin a unit or create one from scratch?
I always wanted to reskin and create my own units but im not sure if il be able to follow the steps

For anyone reading, don't use this template as of the date of this comment... for some reason having the template crashes the entire pfm when trying to input your varient mesh names for your unit in the tables... here is a link to do it manually it will save you hours of frustration https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGEFdzSi2-Y&t=1621s&ab_channel=BadLuckSoftware

@Kodie38 thank you for the information. When I try to update the historical text by the exact reference: land_unit > historical.. > .._Long - the unit does not appear in the game. when I change the historical text without the exact reference: land_unit > historical... > unitname (without: .._Long) then the unit appears, but has no description at all. Maybe you know the problem?

Anyone know how to make the unit cards show up in the building information when you check tiers with a right click?

For anyone else struggling with updating your old unit mods or making new ones, the "historic texts" table is now an absolute requirement or the unit will not appear in the game.

Add in unit_description_historical_texts like any other table, make a new line for your unit. You can use your unit's name, "placeholder" or whatever. In your unit's land_units table "historical text (previously had no name/variable 11) must refer to an entry in unit_description_historical_texts.

That simple change fixed my 180+ unit mod. Cheers.

It worked except their meshes in the game are messed up. They are no longer invisible, but are grotesque skinny and their faces are glitching.
