주의) 스토리 설명이 이전작 The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav의 결말에 대한 약한 스포일러를 포함하고 있어 검게 처리했습니다.

위대한 Heroin이 되고 싶었던 한 공주의 이야기

이전작(The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav)에서 안더가스트를 구하기위해 Seer와 대결중 게론의 여자친구 누리는 저주를 받게된다. 이 저주를 제거하기 위해 만난 상인 파히는 게론에게 위대한 히로인이 되고 싶어 했던 공주 사디아와 관련된 수수께끼를 들려주고 이것을 풀어주면 그 대가로 저주를 풀어주는 제안을 하게 되는데...

Memoria는 이전작인 The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav의 후속작이다. 사실 두 이야기의 연관성은 크지 않다. 이전작은 다만 Memoria에서 전작의 주인공 게론이 왜 사건에 휘말리게 되었는지에 대한 배경만 제공해줄 뿐이다. 또한 게론파트는 결말부분전까지는 또 다른 주인공 사디아 이야기를 진행하는 서술자 역활인 경우가 왕왕 있으니 굳이 이전작을 하고 Memoria를 할 필요는 없다. 하지만 개인적으로 The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav를 하고 Memoria를 하기를 추천한다. 결말의 선택부분에서 좀 더 게론과 누리에 감정이입이 가능하기 때문이다.

게임에서 두 주인공 게론과 사디아를 번갈아 조작할 수 있다. 게론은 현재, 사디아로는 과거의 이야기를 진행 가능하다. 두 주인공이 동시대 사람이 아니므로 서로의 이야기가 서로 영향을 미치거나 하지는 않지만, 개인적으로 게론의 경우는 사디아의 과거 행적을 추적하기 때문에 그에 비추어 현재 벌어지는 게론의 사건들에 대해 예상하고 추론하는 재미가 있었다.

이 게임의 주요한 특징중 하나는 상당히 미려한 아트워크를 들 수 있다. 특히 배경이 아름답고 매우 디테일하다. 애니메이션도 전작에 비해 좀 더 부드러워 졌고 더 다양한 모션을 보인다.

퍼즐은 쉬운퍼즐, 어려운 퍼즐, 짜증나는 퍼즐들도 있었지만 그중에서도 마법을 사용한 퍼즐들은 논리적이고 독특했다. 마법아티팩트의 활성화/비활성화 마법, 비젼을 보내는 마법, 작은 물건을 부수고 재조합하는 마법, 또 석화마법 등 5-6가지 마법들을 때에 따라 적절한 곳에 사용해서 문제를 해결할 수 있다.

힌트 시스템은 칭찬해줄만 하다. 장기간 손을 놨다가 다시 게임을 잡은 게이머나 지금 무엇을 해야할지 잘 모르는 사람을 위해 지금해야 할일들을 제시해주고 있고 더 나아가 그 문제 해결의 실마리를 암시해 주고 있다. 직접적으로 알려주거나 하지 않는다.

아쉬운 점은 전반적으로 퍼즐의 난이도가 낮지 않아서 어드벤쳐 초보자들에게 쉽게 권할 수 없는 게임이라는 것과 먼거리를 이동시 전작에서의 달리기가 삭제되었다는 점이다.
