Nvm I figured it out. For some reason SSS conflicts with Extended Continental Coin Shop. Having the shop activate disables any sort of skin swapping...

skin swapper related crash, disabling the mod stopped the crash (only happens when I selected the Beta 2 skin in my inventory) http://steamcommunity.com/app/218620/discussions/14/2860219962095228323/
