Everytime I'm trying to start the game, a message pops up:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
And well, I am not able to start the game at all. I have installed all the x64 versions of Visual C++ from 2005 to 2013, and also the x86 versions from 2010 and 2012.
OS is Windows 7 64.

PROBLEM SOLVED
Alright, so here's what I did for anyone who might have the same issue:
The installation of the Visual C++ redistributables did somehow not install MSVCP110.dll into the Windows\SysWOW64 folder which is a necessary file for the game.
I realized that, downloaded said .dll and put it into the SysWOW64 folder. What I did not realize is, that this folder is for 32 bit files only, and I had a 64 bit msvcp110.dll.
So just download the 32 bit version of that .dll and put it into the folder I mentioned.

Still crashing?:
- send log from gamefolder {LINK REMOVED}

and dxdiag (if you know how)

to oliver@starpointgemini.com along with short description of what is happening

2) GAMEPLAY PROBLEMS

- How to board and capture ships:

I will welcome any comments and suggestions here and/or on the wiki, these may offer more help to the newcomers.

I copy-paste here one of the bests explanation on boarding by Le Sabaoth:

You are not really doing something wrong. You just don't put every chance in your favor. Let me explain.

1) You fight with 9 troopers against 20 almost each time, so your troopers, even if they are a little bit doped, lose their ground. Answer : upgrade you transporter capacity (with officers, and for example the upgrade "locust")

2) The enemy ship has defense systems along its troopers. Even if you dropped 21 troopers against 20, you would lose the fight. Answer : hit the enemy ship to destroy most of its hull, thus decreasing the number of enemy troopers and weakening the defense systems.

3) Enemy ship's class determines the strength of its innate defenses. It'll be easier to capture a gunship with 20 troopers than a frigate with 20 troopers.

4) Don't forget than in a boarding, the one attacking is always put at a disadvantage. Unless you have a ton of troopers and transporter upgrades and your ship is a way higher class vessel than the one you try to capture.

Hope it helps ! Good luck, fellow captain =)

PS : Viral torpedoes and hacking life support systems can help too.

That is basically it! Good hunting, Captains!

Nothing yet about the cloak constantly turning off eh? I'm hoping.

You are consuming your power too fast(slider on left bottom corner). It will be improved a bit soon. Meanwhile you can use officers and power booster equipment to make it longer.

Cloak is not meant to be on for long. It's here for retreating or surprise attacks. ;)
And you have a bar (left of your speed bar) that shows you how much time you have left on cloak.

To be technically accurate, that bar's not JUST for the cloak; it's also shared with any skills you have enabled/sustained.
Cloak will be tweaked in next update ;) also BUMP for this thread

Since skills have their own cooldown time, just like equipment, why hobble us further? I'm sorry, this change does not make sense to me and lowers the playability of the game until it is optimized and balanced. Maybe it's my lack of understanding here.

align your ship, if the weapon is on the right part of your ship, turn that side towards enemy and press X

Cloak is OP. When cloaked, if using enhancements and officers too, you cannot be attacked, PTE disrupted, killed, you always have the first shot, you can always run away from fight. You can even capture ships without attacking them.

It was unbalanced in the beta and now cloak is used for surprise attacks or getting out of the fight quickly. Everything else made the game way to easy and boring.

I hope, if you think about it, you'll understand how much overpowered that is in comparison to any other ships that doesn't have cloak. I saw it firsthand.

lululu i've got some apples...

I'm constantly losing textures after some time in game. Space, planets, ships - everything just turns black/grey/or any colour. Is there anything i shud know?
upd. looks like dropping some graphic options helped, but i'm not sure.

Enemies are swarming around me while i'ma flying in green sectors. And i mean it - swarming. Jumping outta nowhere in threes or fours - are u sure thats how friendly sectors should look like?

I'm taking a freelance mission - 14 level it is said to be. Well, i'ma 26 Ensign, and still i'ma getting surprises meeting two ships with threat level Impossible. Is there anything i should know? I want to believe! :)

And yes, enemies just keep swarming round me like rebel X-Wings around Darth Vader's Tau-Fighter.

Some radiochatting would be cool too. U know, like anyone's speaking in this galaxy at all.

And maybe some new freelance missions? Like searching (go to X,X and find our lost ship and bring it back/retrieve cargo), scouting (go to X,X then move to X1,X2 there's pirate base somewhere), exploring (is there anything interesting in X,X?), studing asteroids for minerals, escorting caravans or else? It could be fun.

Oh, and freelance missions, of course. I'm having lots of em on my starchart, taking some, flying offboard, enemies come'n'kill me, i'ma loading autosave just to find that every freelance mission - those i've taken and those i didn't, - just vanished away, and some new are generating. Not sure if it is a good idea refreshing them like this all the time i'm getting dispersed in an open space.

Thanks for reading! Still, SPG2 is a great game, and I'm having very nice time and lots of fun playing it, so thanks, guys! :)

Maybe i should've posted it in Suggestions?.. Let me know anyway if this was helpful/interesting/not so stupid at all :)
